DECATUR, Ill. — The 2026 schedule for the inaugural season of the new has been announced, and season tickets are currently available. Â鶹ԼÅÄ University’s Workman Family Baseball Field will serve as the home of Decatur’s new summer collegiate baseball team when the franchise takes the field in the summer of 2026.
The season’s opening day begins Tuesday, May 26, when Decatur hosts the Lafayette Aviators, from Lafayette, Ind. The team then faces the Terre Haute Rex on Wednesday, May 27, at Â鶹ԼÅÄ and then travels to Marion, Ill., to face the Thrillville Thrillbillies for the team’s first road game.
The Prospect League schedule features a 56-game regular season, split evenly between home and road contests. The season opens in late May and runs through early August, bringing baseball action to Â鶹ԼÅÄ throughout the summer months.
Decatur will face Central Illinois rivals, the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes and Normal CornBelters, this summer, beginning by hosting the Lucky Horseshoes on June 3 and the CornBelters on June 23. A unique July 18 split doubleheader against the Lucky Horseshoes, featuring a daytime game at Â鶹ԼÅÄ, followed by an evening contest on the road in Springfield.

The team is also seeking support from the Decatur community to shape the franchise’s identity. Decatur community members are encouraged to submit suggestions through an ongoing team-naming process that will gather public ideas and feedback before a final name and brand are announced.
