�鶹Լ�� University graduate Jim Montgomery ’92 was appointed to lead the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) effective Aug. 31, pending Senate approval.

Montgomery earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from �鶹Լ�� University in 1992 and then went on to earn a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University. Montgomery currently serves as an adjunct faculty member for �鶹Լ�� University, teaching Political Science within the School of Social Sciences.

“The Illinois Department of Natural Resources protects the natural treasures of Illinois and makes them available to the public to experience and enjoy what our state has to offer,” said Governor JB Pritzker. “I am proud to appoint Jim Montgomery to lead our state’s efforts to protect and promote our natural, recreational, and cultural resources. Jim is an exceptionally qualified candidate to lead Illinois’ conservation work, as he brings a deep wealth of experience in public leadership and operations.”

Montgomery brings a broad range of leadership and public service experience to his new role with IDNR. He previously served as the first Executive Director of the Illinois Prisoner Review Board, following leadership roles with the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department in Massachusetts and the Boston Public Health Commission. His career also includes serving as Northeast/Midwest Vice President of Client Services for Intermedix Corporation, a national provider of emergency services and healthcare revenue cycle management and technology solutions. Across these roles, Montgomery has developed extensive experience in administration, finance, procurement, and organizational leadership.
