On Sept. 28, 2022, TIME magazine named ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ alumnus Joel Kim Booster to its 2022 TIME100 Next List. Inspired by the magazineβs annual TIME100, the list spotlights 100 rising stars spanning diverse industries across the globe. was penned by his βFire Islandβ costar and comedian Margaret Cho, who celebrates Booster for βgiving laughter and lots of important observations on race, class, culture, sex and being gay in all those realms.β
Writer, actor and comedian Booster will be returning to ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ University Nov. 9, 2022, to headline the . William Madden, provides ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ students with access to outstanding entertainment at no charge.
Named one of The New York Timesβ βQueer Young Comics Redefining American Humor,β Booster has found success seemingly everywhere in 2022. In June, he starred in the Hulu rom-com βFire Island,β which the The film, which Booster also wrote, is an unapologetically modern twist on Jane Austenβs βPride and Prejudiceβ and costars Bowen Yang and Margaret Cho.
Boosterβs first hourlong Netflix special, βPsychosexual,β also premiered in June. In it, Booster explores his experiences as a gay Asian-American, providing thought-provoking and unfiltered commentary on identity, modern sexuality and cultural expectations. Currently, Booster is starring in the Apple TV+ series βLoot,β playing Maya Rudolphβs quirky assistant.
